The Color-Area is Clan Ground. The Gray Region is Wild Terrain. | |
You may create your own Lair as a topic on the Den Site board. Please do so only once for each Character, as your Critter may inhabit only one den at a time.
When Role Playing, it is vital to remember that the Boards symbolize different regions of the same world and storyline. Therefore, a specific character cannot attend more than one board at any given time, unless he/she is traveling between lands. You may have as many Characters as you would like however, and each separate creature can linger in its own forum, or share the same as your other critters. During these occasions, it is best to avoid confusion by clarifying which beast you are posting with. If you have not read the books, please take a moment to read up on each various location, as each sustains landmarks derived directly from the novels.

The Meadow
The Meadow is the largest portion of Named territory. In some areas, the grass has been cropped short due to the constant grazing of Clan Herd beasts, in others, the grass stands tall enough to conceal even the largest of cats. Small shrubs and thickets dot this vast plane, and at times, herders are forced to untangle strayed beasts from their thin, ensnaring branches. Clear streams run on either side of the Meadow, near the borders of Clan territory. It is there that the Named water their many beasts - Dapplebacks, Stripers, and Three-horns. Horses and Deer are kept far apart, for the Three-horns tend to intimidate and menace the smaller Dapplebacks. In order to maintain a steady population, the Named allow their Herd Beasts to breed freely, however, when numbers are low and in need of immediate replenishing, certain herders are sent to venture beyond Clan Ground in the hopes of gathering wild Dapplebacks or three-horns, and driving them towards Named Herds. Recently, they have considered managing Face-Tails.
 | While the Meadow is considered a place of peace and prosperoty - it is also a Blood Plain. Countless wars have raged in these wind-teased, pine-guarded prairies. It is as crucial to the Named as their Dens. they will defend it with their lives. Below are areas of interest or importance also found in the Meadow.
The Sunning Rock
Near the center of the Meadow, is a large gray boulder, twice the size and height of a Named feline. This is the Sunning Rock. Its summit is level, rain-beaten, and worn smooth. Here meetings are held, as well as Clan Kills and what was once the annual Dance-hunt.
Grave Pines
Within the Meadows confines stand several pines, both towering and diminutive. Clan members drag those fallen in death to rest beneath these green and tawny needled-sentries. Ones lifeless body is placed beneath its own tree (or the tree of another as equally respected,) to decay, and sleep eternally. The bones of many linger here, remnants of lost warriors, beloved friends, and even, a few esteemed foes.
Guardfires
 | With the acrid smell of ash, and the sighting of faint, sky-bound smoke-wisps, an outsider can tell he or she has wandered dangerously deep into Named territory. Nestled between the edge of Clan Ground and current herd locations, are numerous Guardfires. These resemble small hearths or campfires...yet they do not serve for warmth alone. Beside them, are large piles of branches and twigs - these are not only used to feed the flames. When lifted between the jaws of a Named feline, each branch has the potential to become a fatal torch - the Clans most valuable resource when driving away Unnamed intruders, or predators aiming to fill their bellies on Named beasts. FireKeepers take turns guarding and tending the many blazes, just as herders take turns guarding and tending to the many herds.
Fire-Lair The Fire-Lair is a den created solely for the purpose of housing a source-fire. In this warren, a small platform has been constructed out of earth. It is upon this rise that a large blaze is constructed. A second chamber joins the first as a storage room for dry wood. Here the flames are safe from external hazards such as wind and rain. Should ill-fate ensue the guard-fires, there will always be a Red Tongue to initiate new flames.
